Voting going on smoothly across Khost: Officials
KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Independent Election Commission and security officials say some attacks took place but the polling process was proceeding normally in southeastern Khost province.
On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted some polling centres were attacked by the movement’s fighters in Nader Shahkot and Alisher districts.
He claimed IEC employees and security personnel had fled the centres and polling had stopped the two districts.
Amir Hamza, the IEC head for Khost, confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News that the militants fired at some polling centres in Alisher and Nader Shahkot districts.
He said the voting process was underway in a normal manner in the entire province, including the two districts. Police spokesman Adel Haidar denied Taliban attacks on polling centres in the two districts. He told Pajhwok no incident of violence had happened in the province today.
